Ok… Enough background, I would like to bring you to the present as soon as I can. So a brief story on what has transpired in the last few years since we got married.
We went on a wonderful cruise for our honeymoon, it was amazing, however I came on my period yay! Story of my life!!
We went back to the fertility clinic – By this point it had been around 2 years since we had last been to the fertility clinic. We had to be re referred by the GP and go through all the tests etc. again.
It was finally appointment day again, my weight was perfect, we had both given up smoking about 2 years ago. We thought today would be the day we would find out we would be moving on to treatment.
However… the specialist had other ideas. I was weighed and measured and got a tick for that, she then asked about the smoking to which we informed her we gave up the last time we saw her which was pretty much 2 years ago. She then told us (which she did not tell us 2 years ago) that we had to attend a smoking clinic for 6 months to prove that we were no longer smoking.
Yep, you heard that right folks. So 6 months now added on to the timeline, because why on earth would anything happen NOW. So we attended the “smoking clinic”, I say smoking clinic, what I mean is that we would meet up with a lady in Starbucks and blow into a breathalyzer like a couple of crack heads every week, just to prove that we were no longer smoking, this lady would then send a report to the specialist every time with our results and sign us off at the end of the 6 months.
Long story short, during those 6 months, I got depressed, and when I am low, I eat. And boy do I eat. I gained weight, meaning when we got signed off by the smoking clinic I was now overweight again.
I knew it was pointless going back to the clinic whilst my BMI did not fit their criteria. I struggled to lift my self from the low times and struggled even more to control my weight, before I knew it, I was miserable and fat and I couldn’t even have a fag to take the edge off.
One day a friend of a friend recommended a patient before profit fertility clinic which was only a 40 minute drive away from us, so we decided to go in for a consultation… and what an experience that was!
