15. LOCKDOWN & THE WAITING GAME

Lockdown 2020.

As I said, shortly after my operation, The UK, well the whole world went into lockdown. Working from home was great to start with, the dogs loved it, I could do bits around the house during lunchtime or sit in the garden with my lunch when the weather was nice, and lets be fair, we were pretty lucky with the weather during lockdown! However, after a while, being on my own all the time started to take its toll on my mental health. Alongside my office job I also work evenings and weekends in a hair salon, so I am very much used to being around people.

After 10 weeks of working at home, I asked if I could return to the office, my husband works in the same company just in the engineering department, he had been going in every day anyway as he is unable to work from home, so it made sense that I could go in too.

With a working routine back, but not doing hair, I actually started to enjoy lockdown, with only one job to worry about I found myself actually in a fairly good place (apart from financially) I was enjoying working normal hours, coming home and being able to enjoy cooking again without rushing to start in the salon, I loved having the weekends to myself. The lush weather and the endless BBQs in the garden that we had finally had time to finish ❤ The lovely walks locally, finding beautiful scenery on our doorstep.

I wont lie, I was still counting how long it had been since the operation, and before I knew it, hairdressers were allowed to open again, and it was all systems go! Having enjoyed the free time so much I had made a vow to myself, only 2 evenings in the salon a week and every other Saturday off. Which I stuck to on the whole, well most of the time anyway!

September was soon here and this marked 6 months since the operation, however, getting an appointment with my GP was impossible, so I filled in an online form detailing what had happened and that it has been 6 months and now I needed a referral back to fertility. I had a reply shortly after to let me know they would process the referral, which I was pretty happy about.

I was hoping it wouldn’t be too long before I heard from the fertility clinic about an appointment, still waiting…
