Due to me being unresponsive to the last round, my consultant advised we should double up the dose this time and if it has the same outcome then we can triple the dose the time after. I asked if we could just triple up this time, to which they agreed. So, here we go round 2 of letrozole on triple the dose and round 5 of treatment all together.
My period came on Christmas day, I know, I am a lucky girl! So I started taking my 3 x tablets a day for cycle days 3 to 7 on December 27th 2019.
Follicle scan One, a new year and a head full of positivity. 6 follicles measured, 2 on the left ovary measuring 11.6mm & 8.3mm and 4 on the right ovary measuring 10.2mm, 11.2mm, 10.7mm & 8.0mm and a uterus lining of 3.64. A beautiful triple layer lining may I add. Things were looking positive and we were asking to return 4 days later.
Follicle scan Two. 6 follicles measured. 3 on the left ovary measuring 11.4mm, 7.4mm & 7.7mm and 3 on the right ovary measuring 14.0mm, 9.0mm & 9.9mm and a triple layer uterus lining of 6.02mm. Things were progressing as they should be, uterus lining thickening up lovely and it was looking like we had a dominant follicle. We were asked to come back 3 days later for another scan.
Follicle scan Three. I didn’t write down all of the follicles, only the one dominant one which was measuring at 18.9mm average which was perfect, I have a great photo of this follicle, it was so juicy and a little squished by another little follicle, and we named it Squishy (finding nemo!) I also still had the triple layer uterus lining which was now measuring at a prime 7.61mm.
The next day I did a trigger injection again, this time I felt a lot braver and more ready for it. I did the injection perfectly and all was well, we had sex when were told to, and every other day after that for a week just to be safe 😉
I also used progesterone suppositories this round to ensure this phase of the cycle went on for long enough. The thing about these bad boys is, they make your body feel pregnant – charming!
12 days after the injection I did my first pregnancy test which was negative, I did another 2 days after this, which actually had a very faint half line, which could have been a dodgy test, so obviously I got more. I did more and some had faint lines and some didn’t – 4 different brands too just to be safe! 15 days after trigger I got a positive test result, it was faint but it was also very visible and not just me going mad, mu husband agreed there was definitely a line. See picture below – because of this I was beyond elated.

However, the days after this and after many more tests, the line disappeared and a horrendous period started a week or so later. I had a phone call with my consultant and she came to the conclusion that it was possibly a chemical pregnancy or that the trigger had stayed in my system longer than it should have done. Either way, in my head I had been pregnant, even if it was only for a very short time. Our little squishy was no more.
